Moving in together
in March 2013 was a huge step for us. We fell in love with this apartment
immediately, it was like a big and bright canvas that we could decorate
according how we want and we knew that we are going to be so incredibly happy
here. After getting the keys we decided to immediately spend the night here
without absolutely any furniture. We took a laptop with us to watch some movies
and fell asleep right on the floor. Just the two of us in our very first home.
However, we didn’t know that an army of
ants had inhabited this apartment long before us and they had no intention of
leaving. It was nasty seeing them but it also felt bad killing those poor
bastards. But since they were not paying any rent and kept increasing their
population on a daily basis, we had no other choice but force them to leave
with certain chemicals. And we lived
happily ever after.
But the time flies and a few days ago we had
to start putting all our furniture on sale to Tori.fi. We figured that it is
better to start early with getting rid of our things since it would help to
decrease our stress levels and this process takes usually time. But we were totally
wrong! TWO minutes after V posted the ads, people started calling and sending
e-mails, and yesterday was a complete chaos in our house. People kept coming in
and out like ants and they left with our drawers, microwave, lamps, carpets,
writing desk and the most important – even with our BED! The traffic was simply
surreal.
In the end of the day we both had a
bittersweet feeling in our hearts. On one hand we were happy to give our materia
away since we had gathered regretfully much stuff with this short of a time,
but on the other hand we weren’t emotionally prepared for this. Being just the
two of us in this half empty apartment reminded us the day we first got here
and also that this period of our lives is soon over. At least we were smart enough to keep our couch that opens into a decent bed.
But today all my feelings about leaving changed since I realized that the ants have
returned! I mean the real ones, not the people. After all this time they show up exactly after our furniture sale as if it is a
sign for us from those little creatures that it is time for us to go. This time I agree with them completely, because it is time. Every new
beginning is difficult but it is still more exciting than it is scary. Getting somewhere unfortunately means leaving something behind but I am honestly tired of fighting with the ant mafia, so instead, I focus my energy on looking forward for our new beginning in UK in our very own new home where we watch
movies on the bare floor if necessary :)
